Goodbye from Gretel

Earlier this year, we halted operations at Gretel, shortly after we closed the doors for good.

Read the medium post by my co-founder Martí about his learnings.

After years of dedicated effort, we've made the difficult decision to close Gretel. We're proud of the product we built that was used by some amazing companies, but we weren't able to achieve the product-market fit we needed. This journey has been filled with invaluable lessons on building a startup—from the joy of building a product with a great team to the challenges of finding a sustainable market strategy.

We're immensely grateful to everyone who supported us: our incredible team who worked tirelessly, our advisors who provided guidance, our friends who offered encouragement, and our investors who believed in us.

It really was quite a journey, and I thought what better way to have some chuckles than to look back over a whole bunch of different Gretel versions, concepts, and ideas. So here you are, right out of my Figma Archives.

Version of Gretel as a OS
This version of Gretel focused on providing non-technical companies with a simple and easy-to-use collection of tools to manage their company. Companies could choose from several 'Gretel Apps' such as objectives, conversions, team directory, and storage. All the data was then easily found via search.

This is one of those Gretel Apps, Objectives. From within your Gretel company, you could switch between viewing your objectives and ongoing discussions in the conversions app.
The earliest concept of Gretel I could find
Going even further back. I had to dig this out of the deep dark caves of my Figma playgrounds.
Version of Gretel as a OS
Months after we launched the Gretel feed, I stumbled across this is the deep dark caves of my Figma. An early concept and idea for an inteligent view surfacing insights.
First Gretel Marketing site
The first ever Gretel marketing site. The illustration, the whitespace, the eveything. I still love this and believe it was the best version of our brand.

Did someone say Gretel foam finger?
The first design of what would become Gretel Feed
This is the very first concept of what would become the Gretel Feed. This signaled our move away from the all-in-one product and we quickly dropped all Gretel Apps in favor of focusing on integrations and inteligent insights. Fun fact, I put this together in a couple of hours at 2am over milk and cookies.
The final version of Gretel
And here we have the final version of Gretel 👋
